A Psycho Holocaust is Brewin’!

Psycho Holocaust (click for larger image)Got an email the other day from Autumn Night Studios producer Matt Vaessen passing along some information about a new holocaust movie they’re producing that I’m fairly certain will not be getting nominated for a future Best Documentary Oscar and not just because it’s not a documentary.

Psycho Holocaust takes place on a scorching summer day when six friends venture into the mountains for one more vacation before their lives change forever. Their lives are about to change anyway (and possibly end) because awaiting them is a pack of the most evil, the most vile, rejects of humanity addicted to violence and thirsty for blood.

They’re going to get killed off by members of Bloody Disgusting’s message board? I kid. I kid.

They’re actually going to get killed off by “Ghoulie” from Dread Central’s own message board right after one of the friends names some PG-13 horror flick he or she really liked.

Okay, now I’m just writing my own horror movie. Hmm… Crazed horror movie website message board posters go on a killing spree sounds like a slasher flick just waiting to happen. Someone get on that.

But getting back to Psycho Holocaust now… Directed by Krist Rufty and featuring special make-up effects by Hank Carlson (Army Of Darkness, Buffy The Vampire Slayer), the film stars Trent Haaga, Raine Brown, Billy Garberina, Vanelle, Don Prentiss, Nicole Blessing, Jarrod Crooks, Ash Bowen, Steve Golla and boasts a special (vocal) cameo by goremaster supreme Herschell Gordon Lewis.

Psycho Holocaust now has an official website and a MySpace page up but right now only the MySpace seems to really have much of anything on it, in particular the first full trailer for the flick. Having taken a look for myself, I think it’s safe to say this is another low budget independent horror movie that’s very much in paying homage to certain grindhouse, giallo, and slasher films from the past. Whether or not it makes the fatal mistake of doing so to the point of not establishing its own cinematic identity remains to be seen. Check out the Psycho Holocaust trailer yourself.
