ABC's Gothica Pilot Finds Its Van Helsing - Janet Montgomery Word came last week that ABC’s pilot for “Gothica” was still hunting for someone to play the lead, Grace Van Helsing, but now the role has been filled by a rather familiar face. Read on for the details.

Per Deadline, Janet Montgomery (“Made in Jersey,” “Entourage,” Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead, The Hills Run Red) will play Van Helsing, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist from New York who takes over her family’s hometown newspaper. Dorian Gray (Chris Egan) provides her with the $20 million she needs to retain control of the paper, and she was romantically involved with Victor Frankenstein (Tom Ellis) years ago.

In this incarnation of the story Frankenstein runs a hospital that also does biotech research and believes that he may have a way to bring his recently deceased daughter back to life. Gray is a wealthy playboy.

“Gothica” was penned by Matt Lopez (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice) and will be co-produced by The Mark Gordon Company.
