Glee and Nashville Stars Slide Under the Dome
And the casting news continues for the upcoming CBS adaptation of Stephen King's Under the Dome as familiar faces from two other shows have signed up for active duty. Read on for the latest.
Deadline reports that both Jolene Purdy (“Glee”, Donnie Darko) and Nicholas Strong (“Nashville”) have been cast in the summer series from CBS, Steven Spielberg and Stephen King. The 13-episode show will premiere June 24th.
Purdy will play Dodee, a brilliant, eccentric engineer at the local radio station who will draw on her unique skills in an effort to make contact with the world outside the dome. Strong will play Phil, a popular radio DJ and indie rock fanatic, a charismatic figure with a dark secret. They join the previously announced Britt Robertson ("The Secret Circle"), Natalie Martinez ("CSI: NY," Death Race 2008), Colin Ford ("Supernatural"), and Alex Koch.
UNDER THE DOME is the story of a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. The town’s inhabitants must deal with surviving the post-apocalyptic conditions while searching for answers to what this barrier is, where it came from, and if and when it will go away.
"UNDER THE DOME" is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Amblin Television. Neal Baer, Stephen King, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Stacey Snider, and Brian K. Vaughan, who wrote the television adaptation, will serve as executive producers. Acclaimed director Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) will direct the first episode.
