Aliens Game This Year

A while back Sega announced two Aliens titles. One, a first person shooter based around the Colonial Marines from Gearbox Software, was slated for 2009. I remember doing a triple take over that when reading the press release, as it seemed ridiculously early to announce a game for 2009 so many years in advance. Well, Eurogamer is now saying that SEGA has revealed that the game is currently slated for a late 2008 release.
There have been a few screenshots circulating the internet, scanned from the upcoming issue of Game Informer magazine, and frankly they look pretty impressive. It shows good attention to detail and seems to indicate that we’ll be visiting a bunch of areas from the movies, recreated to the smallest detail.
Gearbox is no slouch at the FPS genre, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the game is looking so promising, but it’s wonderful to know that at least as far as the videogame side of things go, the franchise is in good hands.
