Confirmed: Elijah Will Be Joining Brother Klaus for The Originals
In what should come as no surprise given his rabid fan following (including several members of the DC staff), Daniel Gillies, who plays the original vampire known as Elijah, will be joining his brother Klaus in The CW's "Vampire Diaries" spin-off "The Originals."
Per TV Guide, the pilot (actually the April 25th "TVD" episode) will follow Klaus (Joseph Morgan) back to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans — a town he helped build centuries ago — where he's reunited with his diabolical former protégé, Marcel. Elijah, intent on helping his self-destructive brother find redemption, must side with Marcel's enemies in order to keep Klaus in line.
Phoebe Tonkin, formerly of "The Secret Circle," who joined "TVD" this season in the pivotal recurring role of werewolf Haley, will also star. Executive producer Julie Plec, who will write the episode, is shepherding the spin-off with Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo as executive producers.
The potential series would be in second position for Gillies (pictured below), who is a series regular on "Saving Hope," the Canadian series that NBC yanked before its first season ended when it aired last summer. However, CTV announced a second season for summer 2013 in Canada.
