SXSW 2013 Announces Evil Dead World Premiere and First Look at the Bates Motel Pilot

The 2013 SXSW Film Festival begins March 8th, and already a few details have been revealed. Evil Dead will be having its World Premiere at the event, Carlton Cuse will be providing a look at the pilot for “Bates Motel,” and Matthew McConaughey is heading up a panel as well.

Joining the fest’s opening film The Incredible Burt Wonderstone are 6 lively films that encompass the spirit of the SXSW experience, including Alex Winter’s Napster documentary Downloaded, the long awaited Evil Dead remake and new films from Harmony Korine and Joe Swanberg. The unique documentary Good Ol’ Freda and the fresh debut of Everyone’s Going to Die round out the exciting half dozen to launch the 20th SXSW Film Conference and Festival.
In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film Evil Dead, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival. Also announced for the the 2013 Film Conference are:
An in-depth discussion with the incredibly fascinating actor, whose career continues to evolve in exciting and unexpected ways, including his bold choices with recent projects like Magic Mike, Killer Joe, Bernie and Mud.
In a Special Event combining the SXSW Film Festival and Conference in one, attendees will get an exclusive first look at the pilot of “Bates Motel,” the thrilling new series from A&E. Following the screening, Executive Producer Carlton Cuse (“Lost”) will sit down with A&E Marketing EVP Guy Slattery for an inside look and Q&A on the process for bringing this contemporary prequel to life.
