It's Official - Look for Another Chapter of Texas Chainsaw from Millennium Films

In an announcement that surprised no one given Texas Chainsaw 3D's number one spot at the box office last weekend, Millennium Films is moving ahead with Texas Chainsaw 4, and production will begin later this year in Louisiana.

Per Deadline, the next installment will be spearheaded by producer Carl Mazzocone, executive producers Mark Burg, Avi Lerner, Tobe Hooper, Trevor Short, John Thompson, Danny Dimbort, Lati Grobman, and Christa Campbell. Considering TC3D took in a surprisingly high $21.7 million gross and a per screen average of $8,193 on 2,654 screens, Millennium is smart to strike while the iron is hot.

“Lati and Christa brought the idea of this franchise to us. They were certain of the audience appeal so we signed on,” Millennium Films Chairman Avi Lerner said, “and it turns out they were right. It was a bloody good decision. Lionsgate agreed to distribute the film in the US and did a fantastic job. We very much hope to partner with them for the next chapter.”

Look for more soon, and in the meantime read our Texas Chainsaw 3D review here in case you missed it.

Texas Chainsaw 3D is directed by John Luessenhop from a screenplay by Adam Marcus, Debra Sullivan and Kirsten Elms. Dan Yeager, John Dugan, Bill Moseley, Alexandra Daddario, Sue Rock, Tania Raymonde, Scott Eastwood, Gunnar Hansen, Tobe Hooper, Paul Rae, Keram Malicki-Sánchez, Ritchie Montgomery, Trey Songz, Marilyn Burns, Shaun Sipos, Thom Barry and Richard Riehle star.

Synopsis
Texas Chainsaw 3D continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace. The townspeople long suspected the Sawyer family, owners of a local barbeque pit, were somehow responsible. Their suspicions were finally confirmed one hot summer day when a young woman escaped the Sawyer house following the brutal murders of her four friends. Word around the small town quickly spread, and a vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer stronghold, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family – or so they thought.

Decades later and hundreds of miles away from the original massacre, a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother she never knew she had. After embarking on a road trip with friends to uncover her roots, she finds she is the sole owner of a lavish, isolated Victorian mansion. But her newfound wealth comes at a price as she stumbles upon a horror that awaits her in the mansion’s dank cellars…

it'll be Texas Chainsaw 3;something, not TCM4-this was the sequel not the third installment =p gotta typo up there. I am extremely happy they're going to continue with this part of the franchise; these writers and whatnot know how to do horror movies; so stoked. =D

I think Lionsgate is gonna take the SAW approach to this. They will release A Texas Chainsaw every year in January and the tagline will be "ITS NOT A NEW YEAR WITHOUT THE MASSACRE"

And the befuddling madness continues! If TCM3D is a direct sequel to the original, wouldn't another sequel to the original be Texas Chainsaw 3 and not 4?

Well, TC3D has already shown that the filmmakers aren't so good at...y 'know, math.
