Joseph Gordon-Levitt Signs for Sin City Sequel

According to Deadline, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will make his next film Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, the Dimension Films sequel to the stylish noir drama that Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller are directing based on Miller’s graphic novel. In the flick Gordon-Levitt will play the role of Johnny, a part that the filmmakers originally offered to Johnny Depp. He’s one of the core characters in overlapping storylines that feature Mickey Rourke, Jamie Chung, Rosario Dawson, Jessica Alba, Dennis Haysbert, and Crystal McCahill.
The sequel, a Quick Draw Production, will be produced by Robert Rodriguez and producing partners Aaron Kaufman and Iliana Nikolic and by Alexander Rodnyansky and Sergei Bespalov and Stephen L’Hereux. Frank Miller, The Weinstein Company’s Harvey and Bob Weinstein and Miramax’s Adam Fields will act as executive producers. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For was developed by Miller based upon his graphic novel with a screenplay by Miller and Academy Award winner William Monahan (The Departed).
The film is about Dwight McCarthy planing to have his vengeance against the woman who betrayed him, Ava Lord, while Nancy (Alba) is trying to cope with Hartigan’s death.
