Turkish Horror Hits Home in the Trailer for Htr2b Transformation
We don’t cover nearly enough Turkish horror movies on this website, probably because there aren’t that many Turkish horror movies to cover. That could change if more horror movies come out of Turkey looking like the oddly titled Htr2b Transformation.
24 Frames Per Second brought news of this brutal-looking home invasion horror movie that just recently opened in its native Turkey. Htr2b Dönüşüm, or Htr2b Transformation as it is know for us English-speaking chaps, comes to us from director Osman Evre Tolga.
Is all scientific research for the good of mankind? An amazing June night. A peaceful mansion surrounded by forest, where a happy family prepare for a dinner. Human guinea pigs, modified to become a real ‘weapon,’ escape an illegal clinic and appear in the same forest. A family who has bonded instinctively together in order to protect each other from harm or genetically altered, callous humans (with their Htr2b ‘aggression gene’ pushed off the scale). Who will survive the onslaught?
Given that my only knowledge of Turkish cinema has been some of their impossibly cheap, laughably horrid, Hollywood knock-offs of the past, I can safely say this is a far more polished and disturbing looking movie than I was expecting based on its trailer (of which only about 5% is in English). I wouldn’t be at all shocked if Htr2b Transformation shows up at film festivals in the US later this year.
