Warner Bros. Taps Joe Carnahan to Write/Direct Undying Love Adaptation
Back in July of 2011 we got word that Warner Bros. would be adapting Undying Love, a comic book mini-series published by Image Comics, and now finally a director has been chosen. Read on for the details.
Per Deadline, Carnahan is making a deal with Warner Bros to direct Undying Love and polish the script, the first draft of which was written by Tomm Coker and Daniel Freedman, who created the graphic novel. Michael De Luca and Stephen L’Heureux and Benderspink are producing.
Undying Love revolves around an ex-soldier who falls for a vampire, though in order to be with her, he must taken on her creator, who is protected by an army of mobsters in the Hong Kong underworld.
Carnahan, who last helmed The Grey, says, “I really took to it, and the metric I use is how fast I come up with ideas and an outline, and this brought about a bunch of ideas. It is a little out of my wheelhouse, taking place in China with mysticism and swordplay, but there is a lot of potential here.”
