With the Screamfest Horror Film Festival hosting the U.S. premiere of Steven C. Miller’s latest feature, Under the Bed, on Tuesday, October 16th, at 7:30 PM, we have a new still for you as well as word from Miller and producer Will Clevinger.

“This film will take you back to your childhood and then rip it apart limb by limb,” director Miller, who previously helmed Automaton Transfusion, The Aggression Scale and the upcoming Silent Night, stated of Under The Bed.

“It’s a movie that has its roots in films like Gremlins, The Goonies, Poltergeist, Little Monsters, and ET,” he continued, “where kids are dealing with the unknown, just like those great 80’s genre mash-ups that had you wondering if they were rated PG or R. Only this one was done on a micro-budget and with 100% practical [effects]. I’m excited to unleash our creature.” (You can see a still of it here).

As for Under the Bed’s Sceamfest premiere, “The festival has a special place in my heart,” said Miller of its inclusion in Rachel Belofsky’s venerated, long-running fest. “They screened my first film, Automaton Transfusion, and it’s there where that film sold. I’m honored to be back and screening Under The Bed. It should be a wild ride!”

Producer Clevinger, who has a long-standing working relationship with Miller (and who provided the below still of the exterior of the house which harbors what lies “under the bed”), mirrored the director’s sentiments.

“Steven and I are so thrilled that we got to make an incredible film with one of our first supporters, Brad Miska, who has been behind us since the Automaton days,” gushed the producer. “Working with him and Zak [Zeman, executive producer] to develop and craft what we feel is a true love letter to the 80’s films which we loved as kids has been nothing but an amazing experience.”

“We are also thrilled at the performances from up-and-comers Jonny Weston and Gatlin Griffith,” continued Clevinger, in reference to the flick’s leads. “Seeing the performances Steven got out of these two incredible young actors is going to open a lot of eyes at how talented of a filmmaker he is.”

As for the status of Silent Night, Miller’s loose remake of Charles E. Sellier Jr.’s 1984 ‘slasher Santa’ film Silent Night, Deadly Night, Miller stated, “A trailer for it should be hitting any day. The film has been through the test audience phase, and it got fantastic response! So now it’s moving toward its release date, which should be early December, maybe even the last week of November. Santa is going to wreak havoc on this Christmas holiday.”
