Universal is prepping R.I.P.D. adaptationOver the weekend it was announced that Dark Horse Comics, the indie label responsible for everything from Hellboy to The Mask, has signed an exclusive three-year production and distribution deal. One of the first titles being worked on is R.I.P.D., the comic created by Peter Lenkov, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

R.I.P.D. stands for the Rest In Peace Department, a division of the police that is out to rid the world of annoying ghosts. It’s led by one Nick Cruz, a murdered cop who is given 100 years on Earth to find his killer as long as he works for the BIG boss in the process.

David (The Wedding Crashers) Dobkin is in talks to direct, so don’t expect this one to be taking itself too seriously. Good to know the Dark Horse family will finally have some solid distro behind them. I can’t wait to see what else they get into production with Universal money!
