Supernatural Season 8 Casting News: A New Recurring Character and a Very Familiar Guest Star
Some familiar faces are on the way in Season 8 of "Supernatural". "Stargate" star Amanda Tapping will be seen in a recurring role as an angel, and "M*A*S*H" alum Mike Farrell is showing up as an aging mentalist.
ZAP2it learned that Tapping will portray Naomi, whom executive producer Jeremy Carver describes as "cool and mysterious, part of a new group of angels we've never seen before." Angels will be back in full force, and we'll first meet Naomi in Episode 8.07 (tentatively titled "A Little Slice of Kevin"). She's "very buttoned up and polished" but with some serious issues, and she'll continue interacting with the Winchesters and Castiel throughout the season as her professional demeanor begins to unravel.
As a bonus the site threw in that the episode centers around a woman named Delta, who is a rocker who may have become a "witch-for-hire" when her band broke up.
As for Farrell (who, among his many TV roles, also appeared in "Desperate Housewives," "Superman," and "Providence"), we'll see him and his character's "slippery grasp on reality" in Episode 8.08.
