Rupert Wyatt Skipping Dawn of the Planet of the Apes?There could be some trouble brewing within the planet of the apes, and it has nothing to do with time travel, hot headed gorillas, or talking primates. No, these horrors are far worse… Studio pressure! Read on for details!

Deadline is reporting that Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt is thinking about bailing on the film’s sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Apparently Wyatt’s exit would be similar to the same reason that Gary Ross stepped out of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Wyatt is said to not feel comfortable making the May 23, 2014, release date that the studio announced in May. This is all rumor right now, but we’ll keep an eye on things for you.

Twentieth Century Fox’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will possibly infect theaters on May 23, 2014. In it Andy Serkis reprises his role as the ape “Caesar”.

Amanda Silver, Rick Jaffa, Scott Burns penned the screenplay that “continues the story set forth in last year’s critical and commercial hit movie featuring simians that are given human intelligence and subsequently break out of their facility. At the same time, a virus breaks out that causes the collapse of human society. The new project is taking the story to the next level, with the apes on the path to emerge as society’s new rulers.
