Chris Zylka Keeps His Hair but Loses a Part on American Horror Story: Asylum
When word came in late June that Chris Zylka was joining "American Horror Story" Season 2, we were curious to see him in a different sort of role. But now it looks like we'll never know how he would have fared in the "Asylum."
ZAP2it broke the news that Zylka ("The Secret Circle," Piranha 3DD, The Amazing Spider-Man) was quietly dismissed from the series before shooting a single frame because he hesitated to shave his head for the appearance, which was only a two-episode arc with an option to extend. Executive producer Ryan Murphy cut him right off the call sheet because of it.
Zylka was set to appear as a guest star in a significant arc as Daniel, the "most beautiful boy in the world" and a deaf-mute. The role was reduced significantly to a one-episode co-star gig, and Zylka has since been replaced with another actor who was willing to part with his locks.
The returning cast members for "American Horror Story" Chapter 2, known as "Asylum," include Jessica Lange, Zachary Quinto, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, and Frances Conroy with the newcomers being Adam Levine, Jenna Dewan, Clea DuVall, James Cromwell, Franka Potente, Mark Consuelos, Lizzie Brochere, Joseph Fiennes, and Chloë Sevigny.
Set at an East Coast asylum for the criminally insane, the upcoming Chapter 2 begins October 17th and revolves around Lange's new character -- a nun -- and her boss at the institution, played by Cromwell, and is about sanity and tackling real-life horrors.
