Horror Comes to Rio!

Seems like every corner of the world has their own film festival these days, so I really think one needs to be as picky as possible as to which the hit up. Sure, the climate doesn’t make a helluva lot of difference when you’re sitting in theater all day, but wouldn’t it just be so much cooler to be in, say, Rio de Janeiro watching movies?
If you’re answer was an enthusiastic “yes, Johnny, it sure would be!”, then you need to stop talking to your computer. It’s weird. Now, head on over to the official site for the first annual Rio de Janeiro International Fantastic Film Festival (RioFan for short), where they just opened up their call for entries!
The fest runs from April 29th to May 11th, and their plan is to showcase the best horror, sci fi and fantastic films out there so if you’re a filmmaker whose looking for a terribly sexy film festival to show off your movie at, this just might be what you’re been waiting for. Of the events planned for the fest so far the coolest is their tribute to Jose Mojica Marins, aka Coffin Joe, whose latest film, The Embodiment of Evil, will be premiering sometime this year. Maybe at RioFan? Here’s hoping!
