The Borgia's David Alpay to Recur on The Vampire Diaries Season 4On "The Borgias" he was known as Calvino, an Italian prince, but when David Alpay heads to Mystic Falls for the fourth season of "The Vampire Diaries," he'll be just a commoner named Professor Shane, a charismatic and attractive teacher.

TVLine got the scoop that Alpay, a Canadian actor who also appeared in "The Tudors" and "Billable Hours," will first show up in Episode 4.04. As it turns out, Professor Shane has ties to one of Mystic Falls' important families; the occult believer shares a history with Bonnie and her brood.

"The Vampire Diaries" returns to The CW on Thursday, October 11th, with Episode 4.01, "Growing Pains."

Season 4 Synopsis:
Season Four begins with the knowledge that everything is changing. As Elena and her friends enter into the final stretch of high school before graduation sends them off on different paths, their bond to their home town of Mystic Falls takes on a deeper meaning when a new villain seems intent on destroying it.
