While discussing some of the finer points of his next outing as a vampire in the film Blood Shot (read about it here), actor Michael Bailey Smith dropped some new info on Dread Central about his role as the Chain Man in the upcoming Twisted Pictures production, Chain Letter.
Overwhelmingly, he promised that there are a lot of unique deaths throughout Chain Letter, but stopped short of giving away too many details … at least details that are pintable. This is the guy who played a murderous mountain cannibal in both Hills Have Eyes movies (pictured), so I trust he knows what he’s talking about when he promises unique dispatches for his fellow actors.
But Chain Letter will be more than just gory kills; the Chain Man himself has a very twisted history that he told us we’ll learn about via various flashbacks throughout the movie. This history involves some freaky black ops military stuff, but again no printable details were handed over, save that Smith was able to put his own military past to good use when planning the scenes. Could it be the Chain Man is actually a government experiment gone wrong? ”I was bleeding and exhausted after we filmed those scenes,” he told me, ”I told them to just go all out, to not hold back at all. If I’m not bleeding on a movie I don’t feel like I’m really giving my all.”
Now that’s a man who loves his work! Smith couldn’t say enough good things about the creators or cast, which includes Saw franchise star Betsy Russell, “The O.C.” hottie Nikki Reid, Brad Dourif and walking Hollywood legend Keith David. Overall he said his experience making Chain Letter and working with director Deon Taylor was fantastic despite (or maybe because of?) some very long, hard nights towards the end.
Could we be looking at another franchise for Twisted? If it comes out as smart and fun as those involved have said it is, that could very well be the case … Keep it here for more on Chain Letter very soon!
