Last of the Living Done?

When we left the cast and crew of Last of the Living, a New Zealand indie zombie film that promises to be low on budget but high on action, they were still looking for any and all financial backing they could get (“Give to the Last of the Living” – August 2007). Looks like things are on the upswing for the filmmakers now!
We got an e-mail over the weekend from someone who’s good friend is involved with Last of the Living with the good news that as of November of 2007, Last of the Living has a U.S.-based financial backer, providing enough funds to finish the film’s few remaining scenes which were shot in Christchurch, NZ recently.
So now the film is done, according to our source, and is in the final stage of post production/editing. The filmmakers are looking to get it out on the convention circuit next year so don’t be surprised if you hear more about it soon.
Oh, and there’s a rumor that Peter Jackson, a God to all New Zealand filmmakers, may have a cameo in Last of the Living; if so I hope he gets eaten! Check out the rough trailer for the film below and be sure to visit the Last of the Living official site for more!
