Kevin Zegers Drums Up a Lead Role in Mortal Instruments
It seems like every couple of days there's more casting news in place for the big screen adaptation of Mortal Instruments. Today we have a male lead. An actor who sure knows a lot about fending off the elements as well as supernatural forces.
According to Just Jared, Kevin Zegers (Frozen, Wrong Turn, Dawn of the Dead) has booked a leading role in the highly anticipated film The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and will be playing Alec Lightwood, the gay brother of Isabelle (Jemima West). He is in love with Jace (Jamie Campbell Bower) and dislikes Clary Fray (Lily Collins) because Jace is in love with her and not him. Oh, the drama!
Zegers joins the previously announced Kevin Durand, Robert Maillet, Lily Collins, Robert Sheehan, Jemima West, Lena Headey, Jared Harris, Godfrey Gao, and Jamie Campbell Bower in the film helmed by Harald Zwart.
Clary (Collins), a seemingly ordinary teenager, discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother, Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves, and other deadly creatures.
