Spiral, 30 Days, Lost DVD Dates!

Spiral on DVD February 19th!A whole lot of new DVD info came down via DVD Active and Fangoria over the past few days and instead of giving you one story for each, I figured it’d just make more sense to give it to ya hard and fast. The way you like it, you slut.

  • February 19th – The Adam Green/Joel David Moore-helmed Spiral (review) and the giant crocodile movie Black Water, which will make this the second croc movie made after Greg McLean’s Rogue that sees DVD release first. It just ain’t right, I tell ya.

Sprial was made pretty much right after Hatchet and features star Joel David Moore in a 180 degree role reversal from his outgoing persona in the slasher movie. This time he’s a very quiet, very disturbed young man who just wants to draw his pictures and find a girl to love him … but his love is all wrong. The DVD will come with commentary by Green, Moore, co-stars Amber Tamlyn and Zachary Levi, co-producer Jeremy Danial Boreing and cinematographer Will Barrett, as well as a making-of featurette and trailers.

  • Sick House on DVD March 18th!Black Water, meanwhile, is about a group of teens who are pursued by a vicious crocodile in the swamps of Northern Australia. So that makes its pre-Rogue release even worse, since McLean’s film is set in Australia, as well. A commentary by the film’s directors, deleted scenes and a making-of featurette will make up the extras.

  • February 26th (three days before my birthday!) – Sony will release David Slade’s much-loved (around these parts at least) 30 Days of Night (review) on DVD and Blu-Ray. If you head on over to DVD Active you can see a scanned copy of the ad this was announced it for a look at the art, but I didn’t like it too much and decided to hold off for a better version of it. Audio commentary, eight behind the scenes featurettes (likely the ones seen on Ghost House’s site) and more features will fill the disc.

  • March 18th – Both Chris Sivertson’s The Lost (review) and the UK import The Sick House. The former, which is out from Anchor Bay, will come with commentary by author Jack Ketchum and novelist Monica O’Rourke, audition footage, outtakes and more.

The Sick House is about an archeologist who accidentally unleashes an ancient evil on the world, digging it up from beneath an abandoned hospital. No word on features yet but don’t expect too much since New Line seems to be dumping this one; you can check out its trailer below, though, to see if it’s worth your time!
