San Diego Comic-Con 2012: Summit and Lionsgate Issue Statement Regarding This Morning's Twilight DeathFollowing up on today’s tragic story of a Twilight fan killed while in line for this week’s Comic-Con panel, Summit and Lionsgate issued a statement to fans regarding the news. Read on.

Lionsgate, Summit and the entire Twilight community are saddened by the death of a Comic-Con fan today due to a traffic accident during the hours leading up to this year’s convention in San Diego. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim’s family and friends. She will be respectfully remembered this Thursday in Hall H.”

The woman, identified only as Gisela G via her Twitter page where people are leaving their condolences, was hit by a car and killed today outside the San Diego Convention Center while hurrying to keep her place in the lineup for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part Two panel, which doesn’t take place until Thursday. The 53-year-old female, who was with a group, had been in line since Sunday. She was hit in the crosswalk in front of the Convention Center while trying to run across Harbor Drive toward the Convention Center against the light at about 9:20 a.m. and died this morning at a nearby hospital.
