Warner Brothers Splits Stephen King's It in Two; New Writer / Director Found!

Warner Brother's Splits Stephen King's It in Two; New Writer / Director Found!Let's face it; trying to cram all of the horrors of Stephen King's It into one film is a herculean task that was kind of doomed from the get-go. So much would be lost. Thankfully cooler heads have prevailed over at Warner Bros. Read on for details.

According to Variety, Warner Bros. is planning to split It into two films and has tapped Cary Fukunaga to direct its adaptation of Stephen King's horror thriller with Fukunaga (Jane Eyre) co-writing the script with Chase Palmer.

A quarter of Warner-based producers -- Roy Lee, Dan Lin and the team of Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg via their Katz-Smith banner -- are producing the long-in-development project.

Warner Bros. originally had tapped Dave Kajganich to adapt the novel in 2009 and had planned for a single movie at that point. It centers on seven children in a small Maine town who confront the source of a series of murders in 1958 and then in 1985, when the cycle begins again.

More as it comes.

Thats messed up. Warner will remake a classic like It which is fine the way it is. But they wont do a FT13th sequal. Warner blows.

as long as they make this R-Rated, find someone who can come close to the way Curry Played Pennywised which was amazing, they change the stupid Giant Spider ending and they don't put the Child sewer fucking scene that was in the book, then I would be happy

I'm not understanding why this needs to be made again.

IT has long been my favorite book and I can't wait to see another adaptation.

But I honestly can't imagine them finding a better cast than the mini-series. Every single character was cast perfectly and Tim Curry as Pennywise was absolutely amazing. It was like they stole the characters right out of my head since it was exactly how I pictured it while reading the book.

Now the only thing major detail I need to hear is they are shooting for an R Rating...

This is fantastic news!

Tim Curry was great, but the mini-series does NOT hold up. IT still needs to be done right.

It would be typecasting but British comedian Reece Shearsmith would make an excellent Pennywise:

Or they could have just rebooted the mini-series format. It would be great if they could convince Curry to give it another go. I honestly can't envision anyone else doing the character justice; certainly not an unknown actor.
