Silent Hill 4 didn’t have a radio. Nor did it have a flashlight. Now those weren’t the only two reasons that Silent Hill 4 wasn’t as good as the rest of the series, but it’s still a good sign that it’s been confirmed in the latest issue of the UK’s Official PlayStation Magazine that Silent Hill V will, indeed, feature those two key tools present in every other game in the series (including the rather brilliant Silent Hill 0rigins on PSP).
The preview doesn’t offer up many new details but does further reveal that the makers of Silent Hill V are drawing more inspiration from both the film that most inspired the series AND the film inspired by the series. One scene described is almost identical to the gurney ride in Jacob’s Ladder, while the nurses now are attracted to light and sound much as they were in the film.
We have to wait a while to see if The Collective can do as good a job at understanding the world of Silent Hill as Climax UK did on 0rigins, but the next generation debut of Silent Hill V should be worth the wait. And naturally, if other details are revealed, we’ll be sure to share them with you.
