MTV Working on a Scream Television Series
With more and more big screen villains headed to the small screen in one way or another, in a strange way it almost makes sense that a weekly show based on the Wes Craven pop culture heavy slasher franchise Scream is in the works. Read on for the first details.
According to TVLine, MTV is developing a weekly series based on the Scream film franchise. Former MTV execs Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley, who are shepherding the project under their DiGa production shingle, are on the hunt for a writer to pen the pilot. It’s unclear what role, if any, Scream auteurs Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven will have in the potential series.
It's doubtful that Williamson would return in any capacity, and if we had to speculate, Craven should at least get a producer's credit. The big question really is what this might mean for the possible Scream 5. Tell us what you think below.

The MTV audience will eat any slop the network feeds them, so this should be a hit.

About as well as Scream 4 'worked'.
Did I mention Scream 4 was bloody awful? Not a little awful, really truly horrible with an ending that made you want to see Wes Craven's face fucked by a jackhammer.

I could imagine it being something similar in style to 'Harper's Island', with a cast of characters being bumped off week by week by... someone with a secret grudge against them all. That's basically 'Scream' with its story taking place over several hours and with a victim per week.
