International Rights for the Spierig Brothers' Predestination Acquired by Arclight Films
Arclight Films has bought the international rights to Predestination, a sci-fi action thriller from the Spierig brothers starring Ethan Hawke.
Per The Wrap, Clay Epstein, VP of Sales & Acquisition for Arclight Films, said in a statement: "There is such fantastic talent coming out of Australia right now, and we are thrilled to be working with Michael and Peter [Spierig], who are really at the forefront of this. With the Spierig brothers at the helm, Ethan Hawke delving into one of his best played genres, Predestination is sure to be ideal for the marketplace."
The film, written and directed by the Spierigs, follows a covert government time traveling agency used to prevent future violent crimes. Hawke (pictured above), who previously teamed with the siblings for Daybreakers, will play an agent who seeks out his younger self to track down the one criminal that has eluded him. It is based on the classic Robert A. Heinlein short story "All You Zombies".
"No, it's not a zombie flick," the Spierig brothers said in a statement. "This is one of our favorite short stories for the simple fact that we can confidently say this is unlike anything you've ever read before, truly original."
Wolfhound Pictures' Patrick McDonald and Blacklab Entertainment's Tim McGahan are producing. The film will start production next year in Australia.
