Black Sheep Director Chats Under the Mountain

Jonathan King to helm Under the MountainJonathan King is a badass director. If you’ve not see Black Sheep yet, I don’t expect an enthusiastic “Hell yeah!” from ya when you read that, but I do expect you to take the comment to heart and get the damn movie on DVD. C’mon, the Weinsteins went through all that trouble to release it; you’re not going to just let it sit on shelf somewhere, are you?

Now that he’s made his big debut, we get to track his next movie from inception onward and have every intention of doing so. That being said, we must’ve missed the news a few weeks back about his follow-up feature, called Under the Mountain. It’s all right cause we’re making up for it now!

King recently spoke with Gameplayer and made mention of the feature. “I’m in pre-pre-production on a dark fantasy-horror adventure kinda thing called Under the Mountain,” King told the site. “It’s based on a New Zealand novel from the ’70s that has had a cult following for years. We’re working with Weta again on the creatures and looking forward to making something really creepy and unique.”

From what we could find, Under the Mountain is about a set of twins who are contacted by a stranger from their past who reveals that he’s an alien, and he needs their help to fight off another race of aliens who have less than pleasant plans for Earth. While it doesn’t sound as horror as we may like (not like mutating were-sheep or anything), King’s proven himself to us already so we’ll take his word for it.

Keep it here for more Under the Mountain news as we learn it!
