#SDCC14: See The Vampire Diaries' Hilarious Comic-Con Video; Info on Season 6 from the PanelThe fate of Damon and Bonnie was up in the air following the Season 5 finale of “The Vampire Diaries,” and the show’s SDCC panel on Saturday did little to shed any light on what’s in store for them in Season 6. They didn’t even bring a trailer…

But they did bring this ingenious – and truly funny – video starring Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham wondering if they’ve been cut from the series. It features all their cast mates commenting on their predicament, and even Klaus adds his 2 cents.

It was a scaled down panel compared to previous years with just the aforementioned Ian and Kat plus Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and exec producer Julie Plec, although Matt Davis did pop up in the audience. Digital Spy provided a play-by-play of the presentation, and here are the highlights:

With regard to our two stranded frenemies, Plec said that that anyone who’s died doesn’t have the opportunity to come back, which is both good and sad. This will result in a “few different dynamics,” according to Graham.

The time jump is four months, “big choices” have been made, and some characters are handling the change while others are still struggling. As for Alaric, after getting permission from Plec, Davis told the crowd that he’s living outside of Mystic Falls, having compelled his way into a teaching job at a university. Plec gave us some hope of a romance for the fan favorite college prof: “I think people do get naughty in our universe, and if anyone deserves a little naughtiness, it’s probably Professor Saltzman.”

Don’t look for Elena to find comfort from yet another man – or get back with Stefan. Dobrev said that would mean Elena’s love for Damon wasn’t real. But Elena is “not in a happy place” and has a “confusing” way of dealing with her pain. Even so, she’s accepting of a relationship between her ex Stefan and her BFF Caroline. Otherwise, she would be a hypocrite considering she dated both brothers. “She kept it in the family!” Nina joked, and Paul added, “He [Stefan] deserves some action!”

During the 2014 SDCC panel for “The Originals” the day before, Plec was asked about potential crossovers, and of course the topic came up again here. She said they’re always talking about the possibility, but it’s logistically a “nightmare” so they don’t want to make any promises yet. If they can make it work, they will.

What will happen to Bonnie and Jeremy’s romance? Will he find someone else? Plec defended Jeremy’s right to do so, reminding everyone that Bonnie called him to say she was dying and then hung up. Somerhalder pointed out that Bonnie’s “stuck on the other side with the horniest guy on television!” Everyone will keep telling Jeremy to move on, Plec added, but he feels nobody understands what he went through. Elena and Alaric have to help when neither of them can enter Mystic Falls and Jeremy tries to keep his distance.

Lastly, what of our favorite newbie, Enzo? Will Alaric be jealous of his friendship with Damon? Julie said that while Enzo has charm, he also has a talent at pissing people off. Alaric, however, will think he can see through him.

Did You Catch Chucky and King Kong’s Cameo in the Trailer For Steven Spielberg’s New Movie?

Published

on

You may remember a few months back there was a kick-ass trailer for Steven Spielberg’s new action-adventure flick Ready Player One that sported a quick glimpse of not only Freddy Krueger, but Stephen King’s Christine as well.

If those slick horror nods weren’t enough for you, today we have the new trailer for the film and guess who shows up? Yep, you guess it (from the headline) but Mr. Charles Lee Ray lends a helping knife to a battle, and the king of the jungle, Kong himself!

Very cool.

The cameos in the trailer is one of those “blink-and-you’ll-miss-it” things, but let’s hope he has a bit more screentime in the actual movie. By the way, is Ready Player One reminding anyone else of the “Imagination Land” episode(s) of “South Park”…?

You can check out the trailer below and then make sure to let us know what you think!

The film is directed by Steven Spielberg, based on the novel by Ernie Cline, and stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Simon Pegg, Mark Rylance, T.J. Miller, Hannah John-Kamen, and Letitia Wright.

Ready Player One hits theaters March 30, 2018.

Synopsis:

In the near future, outcast teenager Wade Watts escapes from his bleak surroundings by logging in to the OASIS, a globally networked virtual utopia where users can lead idyllic alternate lives. When the eccentric billionaire who created the OASIS dies, he offers up his vast fortune as the prize in an elaborate treasure hunt. Along with gamers from around the world, Wade joins the adventure, and quickly finds himself pitted against powerful corporate foes and other ruthless competitors who will do anything, in the oasis or the real world, to reach the treasure first.

Get Out Scores Golden Globe Nominations… as a Comedy

Published

on

It was a few weeks back now when we let you guys in on the rather puzzling news that the Golden Globes was considering Jordan Peele horror-thriller Get Out as a nominee…

As a comedy.

As strange as that news was, it seems it wasn’t a joke in its own right as Jordan Peele’s Get Out has scored a nomination for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. The news broke this morning with the full release of this year’s nominations via EW.

You can check out the full list HERE.

One cool thing is that actor Daniel Kaluuya also scored a nod for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – again, Musical or Comedy. Sad and borderline ridiculous that Peele didn’t score nods as director OR screenwriter. For shame, Golden Globes.

What do you think of this news? Are you just glad Get Out got SOME love from this year’s Gloden Globes, or could you care less about awards season? Let us know below!

Synopsis:
Now that Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams), have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy and Dean. At first, Chris reads the family’s overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter’s interracial relationship; but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he could never have imagined.
