#SDCC14: Pre-Order Oculus and Receive Limited Edition Hand MirrorWe’re already only a couple weeks away from the home video release of Mike Flanagan’s Oculus (review), which Fox invites us to stare into on August 5th.

Comic-Con attendees are being given the chance to score a special add-on item with their purchase of the disc, one that is likely to make all their friends jealous: The first 100 attendees to pre-order Oculus directly from the Fox Home Entertainment Booth (#4229) will receive a Comic-Con exclusive replica of the haunted mirror seen in the movie, which has been made small enough that you can hold it in your hand.

Again, this is only for attendees, and only 100 fans will be able to score one. Check it out below!

Look for Oculus on Digital HD July 29th, ahead of the home video release.

Synopsis
Seeing is deceiving in this disturbingly original horror flick that reflects heart-stopping terror as you’ve never imagined!

It’s been ten years since the lives of siblings Tim (Brenton Thwaites; Maleficent) and Kaylie Russell (Karen Gillan; “Doctor Who”) were shattered and Tim was convicted of murdering their parents. Now released from a mental institution, Tim wants to move on, but his sister has other plans. Kaylie blames their childhood nightmare on the Lasser Glass—an antique mirror with a grisly history—which she intends to destroy by any means possible, even as the mysterious entity continues to cast sinister spells on anyone who gazes into it.

Massive Collection of Original Stephen King Manuscripts Tragically Lost in Flood

    Published

    on

The last couple of years have seen a massive resurgence in movies and TV adapting the works of noted author Stephen King. We got “The Mist”, “Mr. Mercedes”, “11.22.63”, “Castle Rock”, The Dark Tower, IT, Gerald’s Game, Cell, and more. The power of his words have clearly resonated across generations and are impacting viewers today just as much as they did readers upon release. For Bangor, ME resident Gerald Winters, King’s work is more than a passion, it was his life’s calling.

According to the Maine Public, Winters moved to the United States from Thailand over a year ago and established his own business, Gerald Winters & Son. A rare book store, it was Winters’ intention to collect and store as much of King’s original work as possible, including first editions, manuscripts, signed copies, artwork, and more. The collection numbered in the thousands, a treasure trove of all things King.

Tragically, some 2,000 pieces of his collection was irreparably damaged when a water main burst in front of his business, flooding his store’s basement with several feet of water, soaking everything. “You can’t replace this stuff,” he told the site. He estimates that only 10% of his store’s inventory was okay after the incident.

Many of us have our own personal collections of something, be it movies, books, comics, toys, instruments, records… Whatever it is that you hold dear, that is what Winters felt towards his collection, which included items he traveled the world to acquire. It’s beyond heartbreaking to hear of his story.

Check Out the Amazing Poster for Panos Cosmatos’ Mandy Starring Nicolas Cage

    Published

    on

Truth be told I have not heard one thing about the upcoming Nic Cage period action-thriller Mandy until today.

That’s not to say I’m not totally intrigued by the film, which is directed by Panos Cosmatos who helmed the gorgeous mind-trip Beyond the Black Rainbow a few years back. It has just slipped under my radar.

But all of that changed today with EW‘s reveal of the film’s poster which is about as badass of a poster as I have seen since the fantasy flicks of the 80’s.

You can check out the killer new poster for the film in higher-res to the right and then let us know what you think!

Mandy is directed by Panos Cosmatos (Beyond the Black Rainbow) and stars Nicolas Cage, Andrea Riseborough, and Linus Roache and is produced by Daniel Noah, Josh C. Waller, Elijah Wood, Nate Bolotin, and Adrian Politowski.

Mandy premieres at the Sundance Film Festival January 19th.

    Synopsis:

Set in 1893, Cage plays Red Miller, a broken and haunted man, who hunts the unhinged religious sect who slaughtered the love of his life.
