#SDCC 14: App Turns You Into a Victim of The StrainHave you been sitting on your couch watching “The Strain” on FX these last couple weeks, wondering what you would look like if you became infected with the horrific disease at the center of the story? Well of course you have. And that’s why we love you. Read on to find out how you can catch the infection!

Launched at the San Diego Comic-Con, “The Strain Transformation” app is available as a free download in the iTunes and Google Play stores. Fans can discover what will happen when an ancient parasitic plague enters their system and transforms them into a monstrous vampire.

From examination to diagnosis, they’ll see their transformation in seconds. The app enables the infected to quickly share photos of their results on Facebook and Twitter to inform and warn their friends of the spreading infection. It offers exclusive video and access to “The Strain” social media, including the official “Strain” Facebook and Twitter pages.

“The Strain” is a high concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

“The Strain” SDCC panel is being held on Sunday, July 27th, from 1:45-3:45 pm in Hall H and includes a preview screening of Episode 1.03, “Gone Smooth.”

The ensemble cast of “The Strain” stars Corey Stoll, Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand, Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Robert Maillet, Jack Kesy, Ben Hyland, Miguel Gomez and David Bradley.
