Things are really cooking in the Fatal Frame universe. First up a Japanese film adaptation has been announced to coincide with the release of the recently announced Nintendo Wii U video game, Fatal Frame: The Black-Haired Shrine Maiden, and now rumblings of a U.S. adaptation have begun!
During the Fatal Frame video game presentation early this morning, Koei Tecmo and Nintendo announced jointly that the franchise is going to expand with a new manga on the way, the Japanese film on September 26, and apparently a Hollywood version to be adapted by the producers of the Resident Evil films.
The news comes from GoNintendo, who point to a translated news report of the festivities.
The only troubling bit? They’re the only site reporting this so let’s file it under rumor for now until we have something more concrete to report. One thing’s certain, however; should an American movie be made, even a crappy one, at least we’ll be sure to see Fatal Frame: The Black-Haired Shrine Maiden come to North American Wii U consoles.
