Horror Stars Get Animated for MalevolentThe producers of animated horror thriller Malevolent, the latest twisted picture from Coverage Ink Films, have just checked in with the first casting news and artwork! Read on for all the details and eye candy you need to animate your day!

From the Press Release
Morena Baccarin (“Homeland,” “Firefly”), Ray Wise (“Twin Peaks,” Robocop), and Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects, Halloween) have joined the cast of MALEVOLENT.

In MALEVOLENT a young woman must defeat her powerful, evil father in order to save herself and her siblings in this psychologically trippy, genre-bending Saw meets Groundhog Day gorer. MALEVOLENT also happens to be animated, combining styles from the world of motion comics and anime. The unique plot and style drew the attention of Baccarin, Wise, and Moseley.

“We’re honored and excited to be working with such talented stars whose performances we’ve followed for years,” says executive producer and co-writer Tanya Klein. “We’re really looking forward to delivering a unique visual horror experience for fans of gore, action, graphic novels and cinephiles of all types.”

“It’s possibly the first U.S. animated horror of its kind,” says Jim Cirile, executive producer and co-writer.

Morena Baccarin has been cast as Gamemaster, an otherworldly entity who entraps hapless humans into diabolical conflicts while her species gambles on the outcome. Ray Wise dials his malevolence up to 10 in the role of Cyrus DeKalb, the dying wealthy, embittered industrialist who gathers his family ostensibly to discuss his estate. But what he has in mind for them is something else entirely… Bill Moseley delivers the goods for fright fans as Pavel, Cyrus’ twisted henchman who is still quite the charmer (or so he believes) despite a terrible disfiguring accident. And Dani Lennon, best known for the hit series “Bite Me” (FEARnet and Machinima), portrays the film’s heroine, Miriam, Cyrus’ beleaguered activist daughter, trying her best to cope despite the damage done by growing up with a sociopath.

Jason Axinn (Starpocalypse) directs the upcoming animated feature, which is now in production. He is a graduate of USC’s School of Cinema-Television and an award-winning filmmaker and commercial director.

Malevolent is anticipated for release in early 2015.

Giallo Makes A Comeback With Crystal Eyes

Published

on

The giallo genre has somewhat fallen off the radar in recent years, but that’s all about to change with the new Argentinian film Crystal Eyes (original title: Mirada de Cristal). Set in 1985, the film’s about a series of murders taking place in the glamorous and colorful fashion world, so it sounds like a true giallo throwback.

Crystal Eyes was directed by Ezequiel Endelman and Leandro Montejano, and stars Silvia Montanari, Anahí Politi, Erika Boveri, and Claudio Armesto. It screened at both the Mar del Plata International Film Festival and the Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre Film Festival, and received a great audience reception at both. We were sent the trailer for the film along with the poster and a bunch of lobby cards, which we proudly present below.

Investigate The Paranormal In The X-Files: Deep State Mobile Game

Published

on

“The X-Files” franchise will turn 25 next year, and what better way to celebrate than with the launch of a new video game? That’s right, the mobile game The X-Files: Deep State will be released in February 2018, and, in the style of the show, will feature a story about aliens and government conspiracies. The events of the game will take place in the year 2010, between seasons nine and ten of the show.

The X-Files: Deep State is being developed by Creative Mobile Games and will be published by FoxNext, and as with the majority of mobile games these days, will be free to play with in-game purchases.

Meanwhile, season 11 of “The X-Files” TV series will premiere on January 3, 2018. Which may be its last hurrah, because I dread to think what Disney will do with the franchise if they ultimately do end up purchasing 20th Century Fox.
