Zach Shildwachter is a guy who has paid his dues in the film business, over the years amassing nearly 30 credits as both a production assistant and second unit director. After working on I Sell the Dead and “Fringe,” to name just a couple of his credits…
Zach is now devoting his time to movies of his own, making his directorial debut with last year’s short Thrill Kill.
The young filmmaker’s latest short, SCUM, a project that he both wrote and directed, has just been made available for free viewing. The 12-minute film is a sort of retro-inspired mix of Falling Down and Maniac, with the most interesting aspect being the fact that the voice-over dialogue is comprised entirely of real quotes from actual serial killers.
Starring Josh Miller, SCUM explores the horrifying capabilities of a man pushed too far, brutally exposing how close we all are to becoming monsters in the blink of an eye.
Check out the short below, which contains explicit language, graphic violence, drug use, and sexual situations – just in case you weren’t already sold!
