Splinter nabbed by MagnetToby Wilkins’ name is all over the place as of late, thanks to his being the first director to be attached to a Grudge film who’s name doesn’t start with Takashi and end with Shimizu, and now he’s getting even more attention thanks to Magnet nabbing is first film, Splinter, for distribution in the US.

Magnet is the genre releasing art of Magnolia Pictures, who just yesterday announced their acquisition of the hotly anticipated Eden Log. Now they’re proving themselves further with Splinter, about a gas station attendant who has to deal with an alien force that has the ability to inhabit anyone it deems fit, turning them into killers.

Wilkins made his directorial debut with Splinter, which was enough to convince Sam Raimi to give him a shot helming the “Tales from The Grudge” shorts for the second film, which led him to get on board to direct The Grudge 3. We’ll keep an eye on Magnet’s official site for release info and let you know when we hear more!
