To say that the promo artwork that Charles Band has just unveiled for Gingerdead Man 2: Passion of the Crust (actual title, folks!) could be described as a case of bad taste would be both a bad pun and yet highly accurate. Good luck getting a DVD with that box art onto Blockbuster’s shelves. If I may quote Homer Simpson: “Mmm … Sacrilicious!”
I was not aware that the Gingerdead Man had died for our sins as the artwork would indicate. Guess since I’m the crazy bastard who actually gave the original film a rave review, that sort of makes me his Apostle Foy. If that’s the case, then I guess I should tell you that Gingerdead Man 2: Passion of the Crust has wrapped production in Little Rock, Arkansas and will be hitting DVD shelves just in time for March. All praise to the Killsbury Dough Boy!
From what was reported several months back when the sequel was originally announced, this time the foul-mouthed, homicidal pastry of death will get cooked up on the set of a low budget horror movie. We can expect to see quite a few recognizable genre faces popping up, a statement I interpret as “Tim Thomerson shows up for a two-minute cameo to collect a paycheck.”
But don’t expect Gary Busey to return as the voice of titular killer cookie with a bad attitude. Don’t know why exactly, but it probably has to do with Busey being completely batshit insane and impossible to work with.
