In between making music and movies, Rob Zombie is now lined up as a special guest judge on Spike TV’s hit reality competition series “Ink Master.” He’ll appear in next week’s April 15th episode at 10 PM ET/PT.
The horror movie maven will hold a pivotal role in deciding the contestants’ futures in this cutthroat tattoo competition. In the Tuesday, April 15th, episode the contestants will show off their abilities by creating the most fearsome demons to impress Zombie’s tantalizing tastes.
In case you’re not familiar with Spike TV’s “Ink Master,” it’s a weekly competition series where tattoo artists from around the country battle it out in permanent ink for a $100,000 grand prize, an editorial feature in Inked, and the bragging rights title of “Ink Master.”
Each week “Ink Master” puts artist through a series of tattoo challenges that are designed to test not only the artists’ technical skills but also their on-the-spot creativity, where they must create and execute an original tattoo by command on a “human canvas.” Each episode focuses on a different and distinct style of tattooing, including realism, black and gray, geometric, neo-traditional, Asian, and cover-up, among others. The masterpieces these artists create will last a lifetime, but so will their mistakes.
After every challenge the contestants face a tough panel made up of series host Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction), world renowned tattoo artists Chris Nunez (“Miami Ink”) and Oliver Peck (Elm Street Tattoo), and a roster of guest judges, which of course is where Zombie comes in.
The competition began with 17 contestants and has been whittled down to eight remaining as of this date:
“Gentle” Jay Blondel from North Bellmore, NY
Lydia Bruno from Glens Falls, NY
Kyle Dunbar from Flint, MI
Walter “Sausage” Frank from Las Vegas, NV
Halo from Severn, MD
Matti Hixson from West Virginia
Scott Marshall from Roselle, IL
Melissa Monroe from Port Washington, WI
