Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Dawn of the Dead Remake With This Neat InfographicOn March 19, 2004, director Zack Snyder pulled off the impossible by creating a remake of George A. Romero’s 1978 classic Dawn of the Dead which didn’t send fans into a headhunting frenzy of hatred and venom-spewing vitriol. An impressive task!

Snyder did so by delivering a movie that gave us what we wanted: more Dawn of the Dead and material that both revered and built upon what came before it. It’s hard to believe ten years have already passed since this one was in theatres (I personally saw it three times during its run), but alas, Father Time doesn’t cut anyone any slack.

In any event, to mark this auspicious occasion, Wish.Co.UK created the infographic you see below that’s rife with trivia about the remake. It’s also a bit confusing as it states that there are both 18 and 14 facts contained in it. For the record, we only count 14.

The Dawn of the Dead remake will always stand out in my mind and not for the fact it was a pretty damn good film.

True story: I was spending the weekend in NYC, I believe at the New Yorker Hotel, when a girlfriend and myself decided to check out the DOTD remake before the Yankees game to kill time. 10 minutes into the movie, some black girl one row ahead kept talking during the movie. This other black dude to my left got pissed and asked her to be quiet. The girl’s boyfriend then told him to “shut the fuck up”. The guy responded with “make me ‘n-word'”. Sensing this was about the get ugly, I pulled my girlfriend to move her out of the way. Next thing you know, popcorn is flying, soda was being throwing, punches flying, the lights came on, and security came running into the theater. They kicked everyone out, while they were screaming that they want their money back.

To this day, this is the first and only brawl / melee in a movie theater that I witnessed. Thank you Big Apple for the memories!

Ah New York. Sometimes I miss you so!

F’n A it’s been a decade since this was unleashed? I went on opening day and still remember the rush i felt , the remake in name only had balls still in my rotation of watched films i never get tired of. I hope an epic sequel gets done someday.I’ve heard rumors about a sequel being set in Vegas but still nada.
