I gotta admit, I’m really curious to see if all the hype we’ve been building for REC, the Spanish cinéma vérité film from Paco Plaza and Jaume Balguero, will be justified when we finally get to see the film. Early reviews have been overwhelmingly positive from what I’ve heard, but then there are only a few out there right now.
24 Frames Per Second got word that the film’s official site has finally launched with … well, not a whole helluva lot save for the trailer. But I’m sure there will be more soon, albeit in Spanish, so keep your eyeballs pointed there for updates.
Meanwhile, Bloody Disgusting got word that the REC remake, behind helmed by the same team behind The Poughkeepsie Tapes, has been retitled Quarantine, probably because most people here won’t get that “REC” is short for “Record” and is what you see on the screen of most video cameras when you’re taping. Yeah, way over our heads here in the states.
Try and come up with a more generic title in the Dread Central forums!
