The Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Official Launch Trailer Has Arrived We’re closing in on the release date for Konami’s eagerly awaited Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, and in honor of the occasion the official launch trailer has arrived!

The game is scheduled to be released on February 25th in North America, 27th in Europe, and 28th in the UK for Playstation®3, PlayStation®Network, Xbox 360, Xbox LIVE® Games on Demand, and Steam® for PC.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 has been flagged as one of the most ambitious and epic games of the current generation and acts as a stunning conclusion to the Lords of Shadow saga. The game will see Dracula stranded in modern times and charged with thwarting the emergence of an even greater evil: Satan himself.

I’ve been hot and cold on this “trilogy” thus far. That’s right, Lords of Shadow 2 is actually the conclusion to a trilogy that started with the original Lords of Shadow and continued onto the 3DS for a 2D side-scrolling initiative called Mirror of Fate. As a bit of an old school purist, the first game in this series managed to win me over with its immersive 3D worlds and addicting combat, even if the story left me a bit cold. I quite enjoy long-running franchises and their complicated mythologies, so I was a little sad to see this series being fashioned as a stand-alone trilogy separate from the rest of the games. But whatever manages to attract new players, I suppose.

Having said that, I expect Lords of Shadow 2 to offer more of what I liked in the predecessor. Exploratory platforming, gorgeous locales and, at times, a genuine challenge.

After all this time, I still can’t say no to Castlevania.
