Watts Officially for The Birds

I’m honestly not sure why this is considered “news”, since it’s been out there for a long time now, but we’ll roll with it to make sure you guys are up to date. Besides, any time I can look for pictures of Naomi Watts is welcome.
Daily Variety reports this morning that Naomi Watts has officially signed on to star in the upcoming ill-advised remake of The Birds, which is being worked from the source material (Daphne du Maurier’s short story) that inspired Hitchcock. Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) is still in negotiations to direct.
Though Watts is signed, Universal isn’t exactly rushing forward to production thanks to the impending strike, so thankfully it might be a while until we see this happen. Both have other projects they’re working on so maybe, just maybe, they’ll have enough time to realize that no one should remake Hitchcock.
