New Ginger Snaps Blu-ray Artwork UnveiledThe Scream Factory’s last announcement of January 2014 is here, and it’s home to the official Blu-ray artwork unveiling of the cult favorite werewolf flick Ginger Snaps. Tell us what you think by barking at the moon.

As per the Scream Factory Facebook page:

“We end January with yet another key art reveal for you. Check out the new key art for our upcoming Collector’s Edition of the Canadian sisters-in-cahoots werewolf favorite GINGER SNAPS (DVD & Blu-ray combo out in July)!”

“Some of you may have seen this before as artist Joel Robinson (The Vincent Price Collection) adapted this from an existing piece of artwork he created prior to Scream Factory which we thought was cool to begin with and liked it enough to represent this fun cult film.”

“Production on extras have just begun and we’ll have full details to report to you as to what they are in May. Pre-order links on our site should appear in April in which a limited edition 18″ x 24″ poster of the art will be available exclusively through us with purchase of the combo.”

I never understood the love for these films. Nothing about Ginger Snaps felt like a werewolf film to me, it was more like a coming-of-age After-School special with a girl turning into a sexy cat.

This is the first time in a long time Scream Factory has let me down…A swing, and a miss…

I just rewatched the trilogy good stuff, why are there only a handful of great werewolf flicks?

The art isn’t bad by any means, but Emily Perkins doesn’t really look like Emily Perkins. Isabelle is spot-on. Love the inclusion of the playground, but the tagline is corny as hell for a rather smart, straightforward film. I must say my favorite is the 2nd one. The first two are fantastic, and the third is pretty good. Hopefully we’ll see those get a Scream Factory release too. It better come with all of the DVD special features….

Well it’s certainly better than other recent covers. It’s not like the original was anything special to begin with. I love all three movies, although some say the 3rd was the worst. Some people are stupid.

Third is good man. Awesome setting in particular. It’s just not as good

That said, it’s about fucking time they gave this film a proper home-video release. I’ve had to resort to “used” Czech copies of the trilogy in the past – each time it’s like a bloody maze trying to figure out how to change the language on them.

Here’s hoping for Ginger Snaps: Unleashed on blu-ray too; that film is my favorite straight-to-DVD sequel to a theatrically released film ever.
