Cannes Sales Art for Wolves Bays at the MoonThings are moving quickly for David Hayter’s Wolves, starring Jason Momoa, Lucas Till, and Stephen McHattie. The film has been acquired for distribution; and we have your details hot, fresh, and furry. Kinda like a Bronie but more masculine.

According to Deadline, Ketchup Entertainment today acquired U.S. distribution rights on Wolves, the action thriller that marks the feature directorial debut of X-Men and Watchmen scribe David Hayter.

Copperheart Entertainment’s Steve Hoban produced with makeup effects by Oscar-winning creature designers Dave Elsey and Lou Elsey. Merritt Patterson and John Pyper-Ferguson round out the cast.

The film will be released this summer.

Said Ketchup CEO Gareth West: “From the first time we saw Wolves, we knew audiences would be swept up in the exciting action and powerful storytelling. Wolves is a great addition to the Ketchup slate.

Said Hayter: “My producers and I have worked for years to make Wolves something special and unique, and I am confident that we have found committed partners who share that vision.”

Synopsis
Cayden Richards (Till), 18, has it all: captain of the high school football team, straight-A student, gorgeous girlfriend. But when he wakes one dark night to find his parents brutally murdered, he is horrified to realize that he is turning into an animal… a wild, savage wolf.

Panicked, Cayden runs, determined to find out what is happening to him. His quest leads him to the strange, isolated town of Lupine Ridge, where two clans of wolves are on the brink of war. The opposing clans are lead by Connor, the powerful, pure-blood alpha of a savage pack (Momoa), and John Tollerman (McHattie), an old farmer, committed to protecting the human citizens of Lupine Ridge.

But when Cayden falls for Angelina (Patterson), the beautiful, young mate promised to Connor, a battle to the death is inevitable. And as the past begins to reveal itself, Cayden’s place in the world becomes clearer, as does his power to put an end to the savage violence building up around and within him.

Thelma Is Fantastic and Now You Can Watch the Opening Scene

Published

on

One of this year’s most beautiful and subdued horror films is Joachim Trier’s Thelma (review), which opens in Los Angeles tonight. To give you a bit of what the film is like, The Orchard have released the opening scene, which shows a man and his daughter hunting in the bleak Norwegian winter. When they come across a young deer, the true intentions of this trip become apparent…

Having seen Thelma, I can tell you that it’s truly something special. It’s a slow burn, to be certain, but it plays out gorgeously, resulting in a film that has yet to leave my mind.

Related Story: Exclusive Interview with Thelma’s Joachim Trier

Locations and tickets for Thelma can be found here.

Synopsis:
Thelma, a shy young student, has just left her religious family in a small town on the west coast of Norway to study at a university in Oslo. While at the library one day, she experiences a violent, unexpected seizure. Soon after, she finds herself intensely drawn toward Anja, a beautiful young student who reciprocates Thelma’s powerful attraction. As the semester continues, Thelma becomes increasingly overwhelmed by her intense feelings for Anja – feelings she doesn’t dare acknowledge, even to herself – while at the same time experiencing even more extreme seizures. As it becomes clearer that the seizures are a symptom of inexplicable, often dangerous, supernatural abilities, Thelma is confronted with tragic secrets of her past, and the terrifying implications of her powers.
