Make a Date With the Third Planet of the Apes Film Even though we’re still waiting for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes to hit theatres this year, Fox has announced an initial release date for the third entry in this new franchise. Read on for the latest details.

Matt Reeves will deliver the as of yet untitled third film on July 29, 2016.

Reeves will write the script with Mark Bomback, who scripted the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which grossed $482 million worldwide in 2011. The directing deal is done, and the writer deals are being worked out right now. Reeves will go right into the third film, as it’s a priority for the studio.

Look for Dawn in theatres on July 11th, 2014. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smith-Mcphee, Enrique Muriciano, and Kirk Acevedo.

Synopsis
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
