Sam Neill Not Revisiting Jurassic WorldDuring a recent interview actor Sam Neill spoke out about whether or not he’d be returning as Dr. Alan Grant for Jurassic World if given the opportunity. Fans hoping for a resounding ‘YES’ to that question are in for a disappointment.

Look, you never say no,” Neill answered. “I think there’s a whole new cast and a whole new look at things, and I think that’s great. As I said, I’d never say no, but I wish them… well, I’m sure it’s going to be great, but they don’t need me.

Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, and Nick Robinson are in various stages of talks to star. Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) penned the script with Derek Connolly and will direct the film. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it is known that Robinson would play Simpkins’ older brother.

Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, and Pat Crowley will produce Jurassic World, which is set to begin filming in early 2014. The dinosaurs will hit theaters June 12, 2015.

We’ll have more as it comes.

  1. I’m not bothered by this news in the least. I’ve been operating under the impression that Jurassic World was going to start a new chapter in the story anyway, chronicling how a brand new set of characters deals with the existence of dinosaurs in the modern age, especially after we saw those Pterodactyls literally flying the coop at the conclusion of JP III . It’s still going to be set in the same world where the events of the first three films took place, but now we’ll hopefully see the larger impact of these creatures on 21st century civilization, which opens the door to all kinds of exciting possibilities. I’m actually really pumped to see things moving in a new direction. The Jurassic Park franchise is that rare beast where I’ve loved all of the films released to date (including part III), but honestly, how many times can we have the same set of characters being pursued around the same islands? Let’s see a fresh take on this.

  2. Neill has made everything he’s in better In the mouth of madness & Event Horizon are two of my tops and he’s a spokesman for the cable co I work for,how cool is that?!

  3. As long as they don’t put him back on the island. That would be stupid. It was dumb in JP3 and would be far worse here.
