Third Clash of the Titans Film Frozen in StoneWhen Warner Bros. released its remake of Clash of the Titans a few years ago, the plan was to do a trilogy of films. Thus far we had a single sequel in Wrath of the Titans and no word on the proposed third film until now.

IGN recently caught up with Basil Iwanyk, who produced both Clash and Wrath. Here’s what he shared regarding completion of the trilogy.

“In terms of Clash of the Titans 3, it’s one of those situations where we’ve seen it a million times; a movie will kind of float away and then come back when it’s supposed to come back. You’d think that there was three and a half, four years of nonstop Clash of the Titans activity, and I think it is, “Okay, what’s the new idea? How do you make it fresh?” You know, a lot of movies have come out in that world, including Immortals and 300. So there will be a time and place where someone will come up with a great idea for it and how to make it feel different and fresh from the previous ones. Then we’ll hopefully move forward on that.”

While the first film from 2010 — a remake of the 1981 Greek mythology opus — was successful at the box office with a $493.2 million haul worldwide, its 2012 sequel, Wrath of the Titans, exhibited a slide in interest from audiences, making $305.2 million.

Clash I’m a little ‘eh’ on, it wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t as awe-inspiring as it should have been. Competent action film. I think the rushed 3D conversion did more damage to it than the film’s content for many folks.

I quite enjoyed ‘Wrath’; better action, better look, better story, wanted some more creature action but I thought it was a solid case of a sequel outdoing the first. However I don’t think it’s so much a case of ‘Immortals’ and ‘300’ moving in on the Ancient Greek genre; they could still do a third film and have it concentrate solely on the Titans now that Zeus is dead and Hades is without power.

Clash ’10 is unbearably stupid. Wraith is alright, but it’s time to give up on this one. Cut your losses, and let ’em sink like a giant CG octopus turning to stone. Clash ’81 will always be awesome.

Clash of the Titans, personal favorite as a child, number one on my list of films I wanted to be remade…huge turd of a remake. Wraith not much better.

Filmmaking isn’t baseball, two strikes and you’re out. This is a good news story.

The 1st remake was a huge disappointment utterly awful & pointless i found the follow up to be alot better funny the better film made less $, still waiting for an epic SINBAD or GOD OF WAR movie!!!
