Two More Actors Sign on for Syfy's 12 Monkeys Pilot - Noah Bean and Zeljko IvanekNoah Bean is reuniting with his “Nikita” co-star Aaron Stanford in Syfy’s “12 Monkeys” pilot, and he’s being joined by Emmy winner Željko Ivanek (“Damages,” “Oz,” “24”), who will guest star.

Aaron Stanford (The Hills Have Eyes) and Amanda Schull (“One Tree Hill”) are the project’s two leads. In key positions behind the camera are Natalie Chaidez (“In Plain Sight,” “V,” “Heroes”) as executive producer/showrunner and Jeffrey Reiner (“Helix,” “Friday Night Lights,” “Caprica”), who will direct the pilot and also serve as executive producer.

The 60-minute pilot is being produced by Universal Cable Productions and Atlas Entertainment, producer of the original Bruce Willis-Brad Pitt theatrical version directed by Terry Gilliam and released by Universal Pictures. Production is slated to begin in December in Detroit.

“12 Monkeys” follows the journey of Cole (Stanford), a desperate and haunted time traveler from the post-apocalyptic near future who appears in present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that eventually will decimate the human race.

Bean plays Aaron Marker, a political strategist whose relationship with Cassandra Railly (Schull) is torn apart by Cole’s appearance. Aaron tries to protect Cassandra but is pulled into the conspiracy to end the world.

Ivanek (pictured above) will play Leland Frost, a brilliant venture capitalist and philanthropist behind cutting-edge biological research. His charming and debonair exterior hides a ruthless drive that may bring mankind to extinction.

Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett (“Terra Nova,” “Nikita”) wrote the pilot script and are co-executive producers. Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven (American Hustle, Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Richard Suckle (American Hustle, The International) will executive produce. Roven produced the original film.
