Joe Dante made his return to horror in 2009 with The Hole, a fun family-friendly flick that I personally got a whole lot of enjoyment out of – no pun intended. Is there more horror on the way from the man who brought us Gremlins and The Howling? You betcha!
As reported by The Wrap, Dante is working on a horror comedy called Burying the Ex, which is being financed and produced by Voltage Pictures. Based on a short film of the same name, the Alan Trezza-penned script follows Max and Evelyn as their relationship takes a nose dive once they move in together.
Max discovers how controlling and manipulative Evelyn is, but he’s too scared to break up with her. When fate steps in and Evelyn dies in a freak accident, newly-single Max prepares to move on with Olivia. His romantic life becomes complicated when Evelyn rises from the grave and sets out to get her boyfriend back, even if that means turning him into one of the undead.
Anton Yelchin and Ashley Greene will star as Max and Evelyn, with Alexandra Daddario and Oliver Cooper also signed on. Production is scheduled to start today in Los Angeles.
