Warner Brothers Diving into the Warrens' Case Files with Three Conjuring Spin-OffsThe Conjuring exploded in theatres for a good reason… it’s pretty friggin’ awesome. It’s been reported that a Conjuring sequel is on its way, as well as The Annabelle Story from The Conjuring’s director of photography, John R. Leonetti, but wait! There’s more!

Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Warner Bros. and New Line are planning three micro-budgeted spinoffs based on the Warrens’ case files, the first being the aforementioned Annabelle project for which Leonetti is in the director’s chair. Production may start as early as December.

As much as I love The Conjuring, I’m not sold on a sequel. It’s a perfect stand-alone film. I can’t imagine any direction the writers can take the story that won’t diminish what already exists. Obviously the only thing that matters is cashing in, that’s why we have shit like The Ring 2. Just can’t leave well enough alone…

It blows my mind that not only did Leonetti serve as Wan’s DP for several films, but he also directed Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. I like his shot composition though, so I’m willing to give him another shot.

If anyone is interested in the real life exploits of the Warrens you can’t go wrong with THE DEMONOLOGIST: THE EXTRAORDINARY CAREER OF ED AND LORRAINE WARREN by Gerald Brittle. The stuff in that book makes THE CONJURING look like a Goosebumps movie! Highly recommended!

Agreed. Seriously creepy stuff. I also recommend Hostage to the Devil for some good shivers.

It doesn’t have shit to do with demons and ghosts, but Bud Hopkin’s Witnessed is terrifying, whether or not you take the subject matter at face value or not. Highly recommended. It’s about an alien abductions. I believe it was the far scarier source material that The Fourth Kind was based on. It makes the V/H/S/2 segment look tame.
