If there’s one thing that was creepier than James Wan’s The Conjuring, it was the visage of the very haunted Annabelle the doll. Sure, in real life she’s just a large Raggedy Anne, but there’s no doubt her film presence was striking…
So much so that apparently the powers-that-be over at Warner Bros. are considering making a film all about her… or should we say “it”? According to Schmoes Know, New Line and WB are spinning off their popular The Conjuring franchise into a new chapter called Annabelle. The Conjuring’s director of photography John R. Leonetti is stepping behind the camera to direct. Sources say the movie will begin filming in the spring of 2014.
In other news the site also reports that the Hayes brothers (writers of the original) are hard at work on the second chapter of the now franchise, and Warner Bros. is hoping to get James Wan back behind the camera for the sequel but isn’t sure if his schedule will allow. Conjuring scored big so New Line and Warner will move on without Wan if need be.
