I have to admit, though I’m not thrilled that they’re already remaking [REC] here in the States (the original Spanish one has yet to even premiere, though it is playing Sitges), I feel a bit better knowing The Poughkeepsie Tapes director John Dowdle is behind it.
Of course, I’ve not seen The Poughkeepsie Tapes yet, but those who have, have had nothing but good to say about it.
Anyway, the [REC] remake is due to roll out later this year, and the boys at BD just learned that Robert Hall’s Almost Human FX, who got their start working on “Buffy” before moving on to things like JT Petty’s The Burrowers and Vacancy, will be handling the effects for the redux. Another comforting piece of news!
[REC] tells of a reporter stuck in a building that’s locked down when a particularly potent form of rabies breaks out. Keep it here for more soon!
